Natyadwani offers Kalakshetra Style Bharatanatyam Dance from basic level to advance level in Ventura County, California. Focus is also on Dance Theory and Dance Yoga – instructed by artistic director Smt. Arathi Srinivas. Each Class consists of limited number of students to give more personal attention.


Bharatanatyam , as Balasaraswati – a renowned dancer puts it, is an artistic yoga (Natya Yoga), to reveal spirituality through corporeal. It is one of the ancient classical dance forms in India which is widely practiced in South India and is based on Natya Shastra.

The term "Bharatanatyam" was used by Purandara Dasa (1484-1564) and later is explained in the scripts/songs by Ghanam Krishnayyar, Subramanya Bharathi (Bharathiyar) and many other renowned poets and scholars.

Bharatanatyam skillfully embodies the three primary ingredients of dancing. They are Bhava or mood, Raga or music and Tala or timing. The technique of Bharatanatyam consists of 64 principles of coordinated hand, foot, face and body movements. Bharatanatyam does not just confines to dance – but a medium to improve personality and skills like concentration, observation, imagination etc. It gives a total fresh outlook to life and health by improving levels of flexibility, energy and confidence.
